Business
Once again, accountants are getting the short end of the stick.
It's estimated that less people are becoming accountants each year, and I don't blame them:
60-100 hour workweeks
Being chronically underpaid and overworked
Rare or non-existant holidays
Perpetual state of burnout
My soul doesn't exactly scream "yaaay" when I think about accounting.
But that's a shame because accountants are some of the most awesome, nerdiest, bad-ass people I know.
The truth is that something is wrong with the accounting profession.
We are "hired" to come in and fix the books. Business owners view us as "numbers people".
And as such we have been tread on, looked down on, ignored, and as is becoming painfully clear -systematically taken advantage of.
Accountants are capable of more than just numbers.
Just like a marketing agency, or a high-paid consultant, we should view ourselves as an indispensable part of of a business.
We are the "money wizards".
Without us, businesses don't know how well they're doing. We hold immense power. Our expertise is valuable. But we are selling ourselves short.
It's time to reclaim the accounting profession and turn it into something that we're proud of.
Something that doesn't just provide a living.
Something that provides a lifestyle.
A business that doesn't just pay the bills, but builds wealth. Wealth for ourselves.
Our loved ones. Our members.
A business that lets us buy a house, retire our parents, spoil our partner with the car they want, and not feel stressed about life and money all the time.
Consultants.
Designers.
Heck even therapists.
They're all moving to a subscription-based model.
Amazon, Nike, and Uber are doing the same.
There's literally a subscription revolution going on at the moment. Everyone is realizing that charging a monthly recurring fee is better.
Instead just viewing yourself as an accountant, you have to become an advisor to businesses.
And then put yourself on a...
...JUICY RETAINER!
You are already taking care of the "numbers" for businesses. So all you have to do is couple this data with some advice, provide estimates and insights, and show a general interest in the client's business.
And voilà - You're not a regular accountant anymore.
You're a holistic accountant.
(There's more that goes into being a "holistic accountant", but you get the general idea...)
As a holistic accountant you can charge between $1,500-$5,000 a month on a recurring subscription basis.
No more being overworked and underpaid.
No more undervaluing your service.
No more 60-80 hour workweeks.
No more chasing clients.
Clients will respect you more just by changing your business model.
It also puts you in the same "income potential" bracket as marketing agencies, advertising agencies, and high-paid business consultants.
All you have to do is switch to a subscription-based business model.
I can't guarantee that you'll have exactly 30-50 clients.
The average accountant has around 30 clients.
Billed hourly, that's just about enough to make a living.
But if you switch to a subscription-based model, you can work with less clients to make the same income.
And if you have 30 clients as a Holistic Accountant, that could easily be between $30,000-$60,000 a month depending on your subscription fee.
You can systematize your practice to the point where your workflows, member communication, follow-up, and document retrieval processes are so airtight that your business almost runs itself.
Sure, you will always have to be involved.
Running a subscription-based business is NOT passive income.
But imagine if you could work 1, 2, 3, or 4 times less, and generate double, triple, or quadruple of your current income.
That's possible with good pricing strategies.
(Subscription-based pricing.)
And good systems.

I use these applications (just a few questions) to make sure it's worth our time getting on a call.
If I feel like I can help you, I'll let you know.
If I feel like I can't help...
I'll be 100% honest.
In case I see an opportunity to turn your accounting practice into subscription-based business, I'll be in touch to set up a short intro call.
On this call we'll talk about your goals.
I'll do a short audit of your accounting practice.
And if we mutually agree that there's an opportunity, I might invite you to work with me and help you make the transition to a subscription-based "holistic accounting" business.
There is of course a fee should we decide to work together, but we can discuss that on our call (should working together ever be on the table).
Does that sound good to you?
